Bonjour from Paris!
Okay... we did it. Juan and I moved to Paris, France!
Yes, we have been living in Paris for just over a month now, in a beautiful apartment in the 11th arrondissement known for its incredible mix of bistros, markets and nightlife.
Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements, which function much like boroughs or wards. They spiral outward from the city center in a clockwise direction, and each one has its own unique vibe, history, and postal code. Ours feels a bit like old-school, hipster Portland—with an incredible mix of places to eat, from Sri Lankan to Oaxacan cuisine--we even found a place that serves crispy bacon (a rare treat here). It's also home to some legendary neighbors: Chopin, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, and Edith Piaf are all buried just a few blocks away at Père Lachaise Cemetery (You know how much I love hanging out with celebrities)
To say it's been an adjustment is an understatement. I'm grateful we can still watch Ted Lasso and all of our favorite streaming channels whenever our brains need a break, and yes, our brains do need a break every so often.
Speaking of cooling down, it's been incredibly hot here—so, so hot with at least five heat waves this summer so far—but it's finally starting to get a bit cooler.
As for the Torn Posters, I've seen and photographed more in one month than I think I've ever have. Maybe it's because we're walking so much more this time around—averaging about 24,000 steps a day.
Truth is, I do miss Portland. And I miss all of you, too.
I am planning to share more about what it's actually like to live here as I continue wrapping my head around this new chapter of life.
If you're planning a trip to Paris or just want to connect, please reach out. I'd be happy to share a few of the tips and discoveries that have helped me explore this incredible City of Light.
Until then, enjoy just a few of the new images I've found during my journey through Paris.

New Work!
